Privacy policy

Last updated 1 October 2026

This policy covers the RepoYard desktop app for Windows and the website at repoyard.app. Both are published by Nexstrive Services (registration 202303272747 / TR0292898-P), Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia (“we”). RepoYard has no RepoYard account and no cloud workspace, and it never uploads your repositories to us. This page explains what is processed, why, and what you can ask us to do.

In the RepoYard app

Your repositories, settings, notes, links, run history and terminal history stay in RepoYard’s data folder on your PC. We can’t see them. RepoYard has no RepoYard account.

Time estimates and Insights are calculated on your PC from local activity records. Those records and observations are not sent to us through the optional reports.

Anonymous usage and crash reports (off unless you turn them on)

When you first open RepoYard you can tick Send anonymous usage and crash reports. It’s unticked unless you tick it, RepoYard works the same either way, and you can turn it off at any time in Settings > Privacy. While it’s off, the app sends us nothing.

This is a separate choice from accepting the Terms of Service. Accepting the terms is required to continue through onboarding; sharing reports is optional and leaving it unticked does not limit any feature.

While it’s on, RepoYard sends exactly this:

  • An install ID: a random ID made on your PC when RepoYard was installed. It isn’t linked to your name, email or Microsoft account, and it lets us count installs without counting one twice.
  • Trial or paid: whether this copy is on the free trial, bought, or past the end of its trial, and how many trial days are left. Sent when RepoYard starts, when this changes, and about twice a day.
  • App version and platform: the RepoYard version number and that it runs on Windows. Not which Windows version, and nothing about your hardware.
  • Country: worked out by our hosting provider from the connection, as a two-letter code. The IP address itself isn’t stored.
  • Crash and bug reports: when RepoYard crashes or hits an unexpected error, the error’s type, message and stack trace, and the app version. Before anything leaves your PC, RepoYard removes file and folder paths (which can contain your Windows user name) and anything that looks like a password or token. Crash reports don’t include the install ID. The same error is sent at most once per run, and at most five per run.

RepoYard never sends, with this switch on or off:

  • your name, email address, Microsoft account or IP address;
  • repository names, file or folder paths, file contents, code, commits or branch names;
  • anything typed into or shown in a terminal, or the commands you run;
  • your servers, their addresses, SSH keys, passwords or tokens;
  • which features you use, what you click, or how long you spend in the app;
  • your device model, hardware or Windows version.

Licensing

The Microsoft Store sells RepoYard and runs the free trial. The app asks Windows whether this copy is licensed and, during a trial, asks the Store for the price to show you. Starting a trial or buying needs a Microsoft account. We never see your payment details. Store purchases are covered by the Microsoft privacy statement, not this policy.

App updates

The Microsoft Store handles app updates. Installing a RepoYard update preserves your saved reporting choice. It does not turn on optional usage or crash reports. Accepting updated Terms of Service is also separate from choosing to send reports.

Tools you run

RepoYard starts tools already on your PC, such as Git, the GitHub CLI, Node, ssh, Claude Code and Codex. They connect to their own services under their own terms, exactly as they would from a terminal. RepoYard doesn’t read or forward their traffic to us, and it doesn’t store your passwords or tokens.

Servers you add

RepoYard reaches your servers over SSH, with your own SSH config and keys, or through Tailscale. Their addresses are stored on your PC.

On this website

The website has no cookies, no advertising and no third-party scripts. It does record the following.

Visits

For each page view and each click on a Microsoft Store link, we store the page path, the referring site’s domain, your country, the time, the link you clicked, and two random IDs: a visitor ID kept in your browser’s local storage, so we can count returning visitors, and a session ID kept only for the current tab. If your browser sends Do Not Track, we don’t record visits and don’t create these IDs. You can also clear the visitor ID at any time by clearing this site’s data in your browser.

Errors

If a script on this site breaks, your browser sends us the error message, its stack trace, the page address without any query string, and your browser’s user-agent string, so we can fix the problem.

Mac waitlist

Joining is optional. If you join, we store your email address, the Mac type you chose, the page that linked you to this site (if your browser shares it) and the date. We use them only to tell you when a Mac version of RepoYard is ready to try. We don’t sell or share your email, and we don’t add it to any other list.

IP addresses

Our server reads your IP address while handling each request, to limit abuse (for example, too many waitlist sign-ups from one address) and to look up the country stored with visits. We don’t store IP addresses with any of the records above. Our hosting provider may keep standard server logs for security and operations.

Why we process it

  • Visits and errors: to understand which pages help people decide, and to fix the site. For visitors in the EU and UK, our legal basis is our legitimate interest in running a working, measurable website.
  • Anonymous app reports: to count trial and paid installs and to find and fix crashes. Our basis is your consent, given by ticking the box, which you can withdraw at any time in Settings.
  • Mac waitlist: to send you the email you asked for. Our basis is your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.

Who processes it for us

  • Neon hosts the database that holds visits, error reports, the app’s anonymous reports and waitlist entries. It is located in Singapore, so your data is stored outside Malaysia.
  • Our hosting provider runs the server that serves this website and handles requests.
  • Microsoft handles RepoYard trials, purchases, payments and refunds through the Microsoft Store, under Microsoft’s own privacy statement.

We don’t sell personal data and don’t share it with advertisers.

How long we keep it

We keep waitlist emails until launch on macOS or until you ask us to delete them; analytics, error reports and the app’s anonymous reports are kept for up to 12 months.

Your rights

You can ask us to:

  • tell you what we hold about you and give you a copy (access);
  • correct anything that’s wrong (correction);
  • delete it (deletion);
  • stop using it, including withdrawing your consent to the Mac waitlist at any time.

Email [email protected]. For the waitlist, writing from the address you signed up with is enough. We reply within 21 days. Because visit records are tied only to a random ID, we can find yours only if you send us the ID from your browser’s local storage (the key repoyard.analytics.visitor). The app’s anonymous reports can’t be traced back to you, so we can’t pick out yours; turning the switch off stops any more being sent.

If you’re not happy with our answer, you can complain to Malaysia’s Personal Data Protection Commissioner, or to the data protection authority where you live.

Children

RepoYard and this website are made for developers and aren’t aimed at children under 13.

Changes

If we change this policy, we’ll publish the new version here and update the date at the top. If a RepoYard version changes what the app sends, this page will say so before that version ships.
